HPG: 9 Turkish soldiers killed in Gever

The People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Centre has released a written statement regarding the latest guerrilla actions and Turkish invasion attacks in Kurdistan territory.

The statement includes the following details:

“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Metîna region:

On August 16, at 12:00 and 17:30, the Turkish troops in the Girê Kato area in ​​the Zendura region were hit twice with heavy weapons. The targets were hit accurately in both actions.

On the morning of August 16, the Turkish troops who moved along the Girê Azad Strait were hit by our forces with sabotage tactics. At least 1 soldier was killed as a result of this action.

As part of the Bazên Zagrosê Revolutionary Campaign:

On August 16, at 23:30, two Turkish attack helicopters that attempted to bomb the Stûne area in Avaşîn were struck by our forces. The helicopters had to retreat from the area.

On 16 August, 2 Kirpi-type armoured troop carriers that were moving from Wargenima outpost in Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari towards Kendalokê village were hit by our forces at 06:45 with sabotage tactics. As a result of the action, one of the carriers was completely destroyed and 9 Turkish soldiers were killed.

This successful action, carried out by our forces with professional guerrilla tactics, is dedicated our esteemed patriot İbrahim Hesen from South Kurdistan, who was martyred by the invading Turkish state in the village of Deşîşê.

In the Avaşîn and Zap Regions:

On August 16, between 21:10 and 00:30, Turkish helicopter activity was observed in the areas of Mervanos, Tabûra Ereba, Banista, Girê Sor, Girê Spî and Girê Silêman.

In the morning hours of August 16 and at 08:30 on August 17, the battle tunnels in the Girê Sor area were bombed with heavy weapons and explosives.

Chemical weapons were used twice against the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area at between 10:00 and 15:30 on August 16 and at 06:00 on August 17.

On August 16, between 21:00 and 23:00, the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area were bombed by attack helicopters and explosives. Turkish drone activity on the area is continuing.

A fire broke out as a result of the Turkish bombing of the Stûnê area with howitzers and mortars from the outposts on the border line.

On August 16, between 21:15 and 23:00, the letter T area of ​​the Zap region was bombed by attack helicopters.

On August 12, between 21:00 and 00:00, the vicinity of Banîkê village in the Heftanîn area was bombed by attack helicopters.

On August 16, between 20:00 and 01:00, the vicinity of Kêste and Hirore villages in the Kanî Masî sub-district of Amadiya district and the vicinity of Girê Zendûra were bombed by attack helicopters and howitzers. Material damage was reported in the gardens of our civilian population as a result of the bombing.

On August 16, between 13:50 and 13:55, the Kafya area in the Garê region was bombed twice by Turkish fighter jets.”
