Heyva Sor: 4th wave of coronavirus affects people of all ages

While the fight against the coronavirus epidemic continues in Northern and Eastern Syria, it is stated that the 4th wave has hit the region.

Providing information on the subject, Heyva Sor a Kurd executive, Shindar Logo, told ANHA: “For the past 3 months, the epidemic has stabilized and the number of cases has decreased. However, since the end of July, the cases have started to increase again.”

Shindar Logo said that the 4th wave affects people of all ages and added: “The Delta variant is very risky, especially for children with diabetes and cancer. It is difficult to distinguish between cases. We can understand whether this is a Delta type or not by taking blood. The 3rd wave and the 4th wave are different from each other. The fourth wave is spreading 75 percent faster. However, the symptoms are similar.”

Noting that with the arrival of the 4th wave, the number of people in hospitals has reached 23, Logo added: “There have been no deaths in the 4th wave so far. Most people are recovering.”

Calling the people of Northern and Eastern Syria to help health institutions, Logo said: “There should be more opportunity to be vaccinated. In addition, attention should be paid to the use of masks and traveling should be reduced.”

According to the figures provided by the Northern and Eastern Syria Health Committee on 13 August, the number of coronavirus patients rose to 71. The number of people infected with the virus since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic has reached 18,939.
