59 people in custody for three days in Amed

Diyarbakir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a detention order for 88 people accused of “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” for the posts they shared on social media.

Police carried out raids on 104 houses in Amed on 13 August. 59 people, including JinNews reporter Beritan Canözer and journalist Kadir Bayram, were taken into custody. Lawyers could not access the details of the investigation file due to the confidentiality decision. The restriction was lifted 24 hours later and the lawyers went to the Diyarbakır Police Department and met with their clients.

It is expected that the 59 people who have been held in Diyarbakır Security Directorate for three days will be referred to the courthouse today.

The people arrested have been named as follows:
