‘Defense of the Revolution depends on culture and language’ achieves desired results

The Democratic Society Education Committee (KPC-D) launched the ‘Defence for the Revolution depends on culture and language’ campaign to promote mother tongue education on 1 August. Within the scope of the new campaign, which is different from the previous campaigns, the doors of Martyr Qehreman Afrin School were opened for Arab students as well.

The committee distributed leaflets and asked Arab and Kurdish students to come to Martyr Qehreman Afrin School and register.

Within the scope of the campaign, more than 300 meetings were held with civil society organizations and political parties, and more than 85 meetings with the peoples of the region. At the meetings, the importance of education in mother tongue and the importance of language preservation were explained.

KPC-D co-chair, Fatma Koşan, told ANHA that after Martyr Qehreman Afrin School opened registration for Arab students, approximately 100 registrations were received and this number is increasing every day.

Fatma Koşan said that they increased the number of classes at the Martyr Qehreman Afrin School due to the demand, adding that there are now 15 classes running.

Explaining the importance of education in the mother tongue, Fatma Koşan said: “Our people should enrol their children in Martyr Qehreman Afrin School and encourage them to receive education in their mother tongue. We can protect the revolution by preserving our culture and language. Our campaign will continue until 20 August.

Martyr Qehreman Afrin School, which was established in Aleppo in 2018, was serving for students who migrated from Afrin to continue their education in their mother tongue.
