People in Kobanê mark the anniversary of the 15 August 1984 action

A celebration was held in Belek, Kobanê to mark the 38th anniversary of the 15 August. The celebration, attended by dozens of people, started with a minute’s silence.

Speaking at the celebration, PYD Kobanê Assembly co-chair, Şêx Ehmed Hemo saluted Leader Öcalan on the occasion of the 15 August 1984 offensive. Stating that the August 15 action was carried out at a very historical point, Şêx Ehmed underlined that this action changed the course of history.

Afterwards, Kongreya Star member Emine Ebdurehman said: “This move came about as a result of Leader Öcalan’s ideas and philosophy. Women also gained great strength from this philosophy.”

The celebration ended with a performance by Martyr Xabûr music group.
