Özçelik family takes over “Freedom for Öcalan Vigil” on week 477

The Freedom Vigil was launched on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg to ensure the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and to end his isolation.

The Özçelik family came from Halle in Germany to take over the vigil, which is held in the area where European institutions are located, and which is carried out every week in groups by Kurds and their friends in Europe.

The new group includes Özçelik family members Sulhaddin, Perizade and Nurşin.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Sulhaddin Özçelik said that they came to the action with their children to underline the determination of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and to emphasize the importance of the Freedom Struggle.

Stating that he has been on the vigil for the fourth time, Sulhaddin Özçelik emphasized that it is important to embrace the action. “Our leader fought for the Kurdish people. Now he continues to fight in prison. It is our duty to ensure his freedom.”

Özçelik added that the Kurdish people should struggle in every place they they find themselves.

Sulhaddin Özçelik said: “The invasion attacks and all the massacres against our people are carried out in parallel with the captivity of our Leader and the isolation imposed on him,” and added that an all-out struggle should be waged against the isolation and occupation, and that national unity should be established.
