Defend Kurdistan announces details of demonstration in Düsseldorf next Saturday

The “Defend Kurdistan” initiative invited activists to a nationwide demonstration in Düsseldorf to protest the Turkish invasion of South Kurdistan on Saturday (14 August). The alliance called on the public to show broad civil society solidarity with the Kurdish freedom movement. Addressing the German federal government, the alliance demanded that support for the Turkish regime be stopped and that a dialogue with Kurdish politicians be launched.

“Defend Kurdistan” has spoken to ANF about the details of the upcoming protest event. The gathering is at 11 am in front of Düsseldorf Central Station (Karlstraße) where there will be an initial rally. Activists will then march through the city center to the Rhine meadows, from 12 pm. There will be a cultural and political program on stage until late afternoon.

Speeches by representatives of various civil society associations and organizations as well as politicians are on the agenda. Kurdish artists Hozan Canê, Hozan Dîyar and Şîvan Perwer will be performing.

The initiative points out that there are joint bus trips to the demonstration from a large number of cities in Germany. The participants are asked to comply with the hygiene requirements and corona protective measures.
