Sancar: Our goal is to change the government as well as the system

The 4th Ordinary Congress of the Socialist Re-Establishment Party (SYKP) is being held in Ankara today. Mithat Sancar, the co-chair of the HDP, attended the congress and provided feedback on the agenda.

The following are the highlights of Sancar’s evaluations:

“Pillage, blood, and lies are the foundations of their authority. However, there is an order that produces these powers. And, until this order doesn’t change, pointing out the change of power and focusing the struggle solely on the change of power would not suffice. I’d want to bring your attention to two significant recent historical disasters or events. Susurluk is one of them. We have witnessed jointly how the state banded together in Susurluk, how it robbed public resources and every corner of the country with its Kurdish-related war policies, and what a criminal empire it established. We couldn’t change the roots that went into creating that system. In this case, we must admit that the social opposition, which failed to transform the existing order, bears the primary blame. Then came the 1999 earthquake. Istanbul and Marmara were destroyed. The destitute people remained buried beneath the rubble. The 1999 earthquake exposed the government’s sorrow, but the fundamental cause of the earthquake was the government’s incompetence. He also demonstrated that the main problem is that system. The 99 earthquake was caused by plundering, exploitation, and rent agonism.

Unfortunately, as the social opposition, we were unable to re-establish all of those instances of solidarity, even in an environment in which people were intertwined, mobilized to save lives, and worldwide solidarity reached new heights. We now have a similar example in front of us. To alter the power that represents and implements this criminal empire of this gang order, as exposed by Sedat Peker’s discoveries, and the order that produces that power together. Our goal should be to reform the order that generates all of these relationships, along with the power.

‘RELYING UPON RACISM’

I went to Mugla and met with the mayors of Milas and Bodrum. I saw the fireplace. There is, in fact, a major disaster. The actual problem is this government’s audacious, blatant, reckless method of ruling. This should also be recognized, but there is an order that generates this power. Unless we establish the objective of changing both the power and the order that produces it, there will be a chance for the 2015 concept after the 96 earthquake and the fires of 2021 after the earthquake to repeat themselves, and to reproduce the system, the order, and the power. They rely on hate policies and a racial mindset to do this. They strive to incite animosity among all peoples, particularly Turkish and Kurdish peoples, through their anti-worker, anti-poor, anti-peasant, and racist policies.

‘THEY SPREAD THE GANGS TO THE STREETS’

They seek to instill terror in the community by placing gangs on the streets. But the reality on the ground is quite different. Yes, we saw the firefighters who placed their lives at danger in the firefighting zones.

The freedom of expression in the equal presence of people is central to the opposition to racist policies.

SYKP merits special recognition for its contribution to HDP policies. I’d want to express my gratitude and strength for the opportunity to work with them on behalf of the HDP Co-Presidency and my party.”
