Buldan visits Gever: “We are the HDP, we are everywhere”

HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan, DBP Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz and DTK Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk visited the district of Gever (tr. Yüksekova) in Hakkari province on Friday. As they walked together along the shopping street and talked to tradesmen, they were joined by more and more people who loudly protested against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan. From the district center, hundreds of people walked united to the district association of the HDP.

There, Pervin Buldan said in a speech that activities are taking place in all cities of Turkey as part of the campaign “We are the HDP, we are everywhere”. There are crises and disasters all over the country, said the HDP co-chair: “There are floods, forest fires, racist attacks and massacres, but no real government. The AKP can no longer govern this country, so it doesn’t have the courage to come before the people. But don’t worry, the AKP is preparing to leave.”

Buldan continued: “In Gever, in particular, it is clear what trustee means for the municipality. The co-mayors elected by the people are in prison, and a state trustee has been appointed in their place, who does not take care of road construction, drinking water supply and infrastructure, and yet has accumulated a huge mountain of debt. This will change in the next elections.”

Regarding the attempts to ban her party, Buldan said, “Those who designate the HDP as a target every day should come here and see the upright attitude of the people. They should understand that the people are behind the HDP. The HDP cannot be banned because people will not allow that. No one has the power to close the HDP. We will not allow it. They are afraid that the HDP will upset the existing balance of power in the next elections. They see that the HDP is a big force in Turkey, and that is why they are attacking us. The AKP’s departure is not far off, no one should doubt that.”
