SOHR: Turkish-backed factions and regime forces swap prisoners near al-Bab

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a prisoner swap between regime forces and Turkish-backed Sultan Murad Division at Abu al-Zindayn crossing, near al-Bab city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

Accordingly, five people in the regime’s custody have been released in return for releasing five other people held by Sultan Murad Division. The observatory noted that Sultan Murad Division had prevented the media from getting closer to the crossing or covering this operation. Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory was not able to obtain any information on the identities of the people released by both sides, if they were civilians or military personnel, or any further details about the circumstances of their arrest.

On May 12, SOHR reported a prisoners-swap deal between Turkish-backed factions and regime forces, as a woman, two young men and other prisoners detained in the regime’s prisons were released in return for the release of several regime soldiers and the bodies of other soldiers who were in the factions’ custody. The swap deal took place at Abu al-Zindayn crossing in the countryside of al-Bab city in eastern Aleppo, under the supervision of the Syrian Red Crescent, according to SOHR.
