Hesekê Canton Assembly confirms Turkish state has closed Alouk Water Station again

Hesekê Canton Council has issued a written statement regarding the closure of Alouk Water Station by the Turkish state.

The statement noted: “The Turkish state once again closed Alouk Water Station, which supplies water to Hesekê canton and its villages. The Turkish state, which occupied Serêkaniyê, has been carrying out this dirty policy for years.

Closing Alouk Water Station is a crime against humanity. When we consider the summer has already started, we should also take into account that now is precisely when our people need more water. Lack of water negatively affects the lives of refugees as well as people.”

The statement added: “International institutions that say they are defending and standing up for human rights remain silent about this crime. This silence shows that they are in fact partners in these crimes. One and a half million people are left without water. Everyone should play their part to ensure the end of this crime. The international community should address this problem.”
