Constitutional Court to examine Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu application on 1 July

HDP Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu has been stripped of his MP status and detained at his house on 2 April. His son, Salih Gergerlioğlu, wrote on his Twitter account that the Constitutional Court will examine his father’s application on 1 July.

“I hope that we will be able to give the good news of my father release in a week time!” wrote Salih Gergerlioğlu.

After the Court of Cassation upheld Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu prison sentence to 2 years and 6 months in prison on charges of “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” for the MPs social media posts from 2016, Gergerlioğlu was stripped of his MP status and arrested.
