Germany bans PKK flag

The lower house of the German parliament, Bundestag, has banned the flag of several organizations including the PKK and Palestinian Hamas following the European Union summit.

The bill was introduced by the Merkel government. The legislative body, the Bundesrat (Federal Council), which is the upper house of parliament, is expected to approve the bill.

The law will also prohibit the publication of ‘enemy lists’ containing personal data over ‘extremist forums’.

Furthermore, inciting hatred against Jews, Muslims, gays and people with disabilities will be punished more severely.

Previously, letters or emails were not considered incitement to hatred if they were not made public. This gap has also been stopped.
