Families of Suruç massacre victims visit Şenyaşar family

The justice vigil of Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in an armed attack that involved the bodyguards and relatives of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and his son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the same attack, marked its 80th day. Another son of the family, Fadil Şenyaşar, was sentenced to 37 years and 9 months in prison and remains in Elazığ Closed Prison.

The Şenyaşar family came to the courthouse in Urfa in the early hours of the morning and placed signs on the ground that read “We just want justice”.

The families of Suruç victims who came to the city to attend the 19th hearing of the trial concerning the murder of 33 young people by ISIS in Suruç in 2015, and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa MP Ayşe Sürücü visited the Şenyaşar family.

‘THE STATE KILLED THEM’

Speaking here, mother Emine Şenyaşar said, “There is no justice. We have been carrying out our justice vigil for 3 months, but those who killed my children are walking around freely in Suruç. Those who carried out the massacre are free.”

Dilek Şeker, daughter of İsmet Şeker who lost his life in the Suruç massacre, said, “We are in Urfa to attend the 19th hearing of the Suruç massacre trial. Emine Şenyaşar lost her children and husband like me. Who killed them? Who killed my father? The state killed him. And they’re still watching us, where’s justice? For three months, this family has been looking for justice. We want justice for Suruç and for everyone. We will be together in the struggle for justice.”

Following the visit, the Suruç families went to the courthouse to attend the 19th hearing at the Urfa 5th High Criminal Court. A delegation of the People’s Front from Istanbul visited the Şenyaşar family as well.
