Court adjourns hearing in the murder case of Medeni Yıldırım

The hearing of Turkish soldier Adem Çiftçi, who stands trial for the killing 19-year-old Medeni Yıldırım on June 28, 2013, during a demonstration in the Kayacık (Hêzan) neigborhood of Amed’s Lice district, was held at Diyarbakır 7th High Criminal Court on Tuesday.

Yıldırım family’s lawyers Serdar Çelebi, Sidar Avşar, Zeynep Işık, Sevcan Delidere, Halise Dakalı and Süleyman Şahin attended the hearing.

The negative response received from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) after TRT, TÜBİTAK and ATK for the determination of weapons used in the incident was added to the case file.

Speaking at the hearing, lawyer Serdar Çelebi said, “It is necessary to obtain this report as specified in the appeal verdict so as to shed light on the file. We demand the court to establish the institution to give the report.”

The defendant’s lawyer requested that the instruction file be closed.

The court board decided to reject the request for the preparation of a report by experts, and to submit the file to Chief Public Prosecutor to prepare the opinion and adjourned the hearing to 8 July.
