Bazên Zagrosê Revolutionary Campaign: 8 soldiers killed

The Press Office of HPG (People’s Defense Forces) released a statement announcing the details of the latest actions carried out by guerrillas against the invading Turkish army in Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement by HPG Press Office includes the following:

“As part of the Bazên Zagrosê (Hawks of Zagros) Revolutionary Campaign,

On May 18, a Reo type military vehicle was hit and destroyed in a sabotage action between the Lelikan and Kevortê hills in the Xakurkê region. On May 24, at 18:00, the Turkish troops who came back to recover the wreckage of the destroyed vehicle were targeted in a sabotage action and hit once again. 2 Turkish soldiers inside the vehicle were killed and 3 others were injured.

The Turkish troops deployed to the Dola Maran area of ​​Avashin region on May 23, were hit by our forces on May 24 at 15:30 with medium automatic weapons while trying to enter the war positions. The soldiers, who were struck, pulled one stage back.

On May 24 at 09:30 an action was carried out against the enemy troops who wanted to move towards the Small Cilo area in ​​the Zap region, leaving one soldier dead. Later, the troops attempting to advance along the Small Cilo line were hit with medium automatic weapons. The ensuing fighting continued until 11:00, and one soldier was killed. Simultaneously, the Turkish soldiers in the Small Cilo area were targeted and struck with heavy weapons. During these actions, 2 Turkish soldiers were killed, and their troops pulled one stage back.

On May 24, at 14:30, an action was carried out against the Turkish soldiers moving from the Small Cilo area in the Zap region towards the Martyr Serxwebûn Strait. 2 soldiers were killed and 1 position was destroyed.

On May 24, at 14:40, a sniper action targeted the Turkish troops in the Martyr Mervan Hill in the Zap region, leaving 1 soldier dead.

On May 24, between 16:30 and 17:00, an action was carried out with heavy weapons against the Turkish troops near Dola Konferansê in the Avashin region.

On May 25, at 08:30, YJA Star guerrillas carried out two actions against the Turkish troops on Martyr Munzur Hill in the Zap region. 1 soldier was killed here. The surveillance camera on the hill was also destroyed.

AIR ATTACKS CONTINUE

The Turkish army bombed the Medya Defense Zones and the villages, yards and gardens of the local people in South Kurdistan.

The details of the bombings are as follows:

On May 24, at 19:50, the Zendura Hill in the Metina region was shelled by fighter jets.

On May 24, between 20:50 – 21:30, a helicopter airdropped troops on the Martyr Serxwebûn Hill in the Zap region.

On May 24, between 21:00 – 22:10, Sikorsky helicopters airdropped troops in Mervanos, Mamresho and Dolan Maran areas in the Avashin region.

On May 25, at 03:00, the vicinity of Mîska village in the Kanî Masî sub-district in the Metina region was shelled by fighter jets. The bombardment caused material damage in the yards and gardens of the villagers, and the church belonging to Christian people.”

HPG added that they did not suffer any casualties in the mentioned bombardments.
