DTK co-chair Öztürk: Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is the only solution

The Democratic Society Congress (DTK), the Free Women’s Movement (TJA), the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) held a meeting to debate over the isolation imposed on Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the ongoing prison resistance in Turkey’s prisons.

DTK Co-chair Berdan Öztürk, TJA activists, DBP co-chairs Saliha Aydeniz and Keskin Bayındır and HDP MPs attended the meeting which was held at the HDP Bağlar District Organization building in Amed (Diyarbakir).

TURKISH GOVERNMENT’S VICIOUS ATTACKS

DTK Co-chair Öztürk stressed that the ruling AKP-MHP government is pursuing anti-Kurdish policies.

“The AKP-MHP fascist government vows to eliminate the Kurdish people. For last 6 years, it has been cracking down the Kurdish people with their vicious policies. It has been now revealed that they made agreements with gangs and mafias on the basis of their common hatred toward Kurds. They can no longer hide these vicious relationships. They are trying to cover up their corrupt relations by attacking Kurdish institutions through the police operations they carry out in many cities and detentions. However, they have not achieved results until now, and they cannot get any results from in the future either. The peoples of Turkey should now see this reality,” he said.

‘WE CAN REACH A SOLUTION BY REMOVING THE ISOLATION ON ÖCALAN’

Underlining that the relationship between the state and the mafia is the outcome of the isolation, Öztürk further said, “As the isolation has deepened, Turkey has surrendered to gangs and mafias. The solution is not the crackdown on the Kurds with detentions and arrests. The solution is to remove the isolation on Öcalan. Mr. Öcalan should be allowed to raise his voice and his freedom should be realized. There is no solution except for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan.”
